Our Research

Our Pilot Study

Our peer-reviewed pilot study explored the effectiveness of the 60-Day Pivotal Recovery programme, a self-guided online treatment for compulsive sexual behaviour disorder (CSBD). Published in Sexual Health & Compulsivity, the study followed 68 participants using the programme’s audio sessions and workbook exercises based on the CHOICE Recovery Model.

Researchers found significant improvements in participants’ wellbeing and recovery outcomes. Many reported reductions in compulsive sexual behaviours, emotional distress, loneliness, and related difficulties such as depression and concentration problems. Participants also showed increased confidence in maintaining recovery.

The study concluded that digital recovery programmes like Pivotal Recovery may offer accessible and effective support for people who face barriers to seeking traditional treatment, including stigma, shame, cost, or limited specialist services.

Our User Stats

The Pivotal Recovery Stat Pack brings together anonymous survey data from users of the free Foundations course and feedback from people who completed the 60-Day Recovery Programme. While this is internal survey data rather than peer-reviewed research, it offers valuable insight into the experiences, challenges, and progress of people using Pivotal Recovery.

The findings show that many users have struggled with compulsive sexual behaviours for years, often beginning in adolescence, with significant impacts on relationships, mental health, and wellbeing.

Post-course feedback highlights encouraging improvements in self-understanding, confidence, emotional wellbeing, and reduced unwanted behaviours. Many participants also reported feeling more hopeful, more in control, and better equipped with practical tools to support long-term recovery.
